But I'm open to the sleeves and I love the great colours.Janicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12567666970919163944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4117671123395795249.post-16335899973966156502010-08-24T12:01:51.430-04:002010-08-24T12:01:51.430-04:00I'm a big fan of Zensah - after my first 50 mi...I'm a big fan of Zensah - after my first 50 miler, I took a shower, put them on, and took a 2 hour nap. After I woke up, no calf pain. Even after flying from Vegas to Boston and then taking a bus from Boston to Maine, still no calf problems. That sold me on them.

I have no idea if they provide any performance benefit whatsoever and don't really care. I think that they help me recover faster so I wear them for about half of my long runs and most of my races now. I've got 2 pairs of Zensah leg sleeves and 1 pair of Recovery Socks (different company) that I wear around the house when my legs are or might be sore. Helps avoid DOMS.

If compression socks help diabetics get fresh blood through their legs, why wouldn't it work for runners, after all?

Steve Magness looked into whether there was any truth to compression sleeves helping at all about a month or so ago, I highly recommend you check out his article at the Science of Running site:
http://www.scienceofrunning.com/2010/07/compression-socks.html

He gets into the research and anecdotal evidence and basically came to the same conclusion that I did last year.Blaine Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17850230392841736295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4117671123395795249.post-20639127746323887562010-08-24T11:52:12.523-04:002010-08-24T11:52:12.523-04:00I am constantly conflicted with the ideas that Avo...I am constantly conflicted with the ideas that Avocational Singer poses. The body should and can take care of itself quite nicely........that being said, those socks and sleeves sure do make recovery better and wearing my sleeves during my last long run left me feeling fresh after wards.

So for now I use them as a tool to make my running more pleasant just like my minimal shoes in the winter or when my feet are too pink to go bare after too many days in a row.
I love Zensahs colors!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15169460908351248051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4117671123395795249.post-60772737013042115782010-08-24T11:22:46.399-04:002010-08-24T11:22:46.399-04:00dig it! I, actually, cut the feet off my compression socks last fall... haven't used them --compression calf sleeves-- in the summer... thought they would be too warm... I'll give'r a spin today... ANYTHING to help from mile 30-50 is a plus... even if it's a fraction of a percent, eh?!!? ;o)snowshoeharehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17818950905675841399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4117671123395795249.post-45342800249210601002010-08-24T09:41:45.841-04:002010-08-24T09:41:45.841-04:00Jason, can you comment on how sizing works? I wouldn't be opposed to giving a pair a try this coming weekend for my 50 miler.Barefoot Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06596868596844024462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4117671123395795249.post-15524151591020306632010-08-24T09:19:24.379-04:002010-08-24T09:19:24.379-04:00I still don't get the thinking behind compress...I still don't get the thinking behind compression socks. Wouldn't it be the same principles as behind designing shoes? They began to design things into shoes to improve performance and decrease fatigue, etc... and ended up with something so supportive that the feet were doing less work.

I'm not trying to be annoying. I sincerely am interested in why designing other products (clothing products) to help performance isn't just starting down the same road as the running shoe road.Avocational Singerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15322495001387001602noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4117671123395795249.post-91564628473879501452010-08-24T04:12:46.588-04:002010-08-24T04:12:46.588-04:00i swear by a whole compression sock. i wear them f...i swear by a whole compression sock. i wear them for all long runs and races and i sleep in them. i do not get cramps in my calves any more (which was a fairly regular occurence at ultra distances)and when slept in for recovery, i do not wake up with bloated lower limbs. i use medical grade CEP socks, they increase circulation, and hence increase recovery. LOVE them. the only down side is that they are hard to wrestle on and off... other than that, they ROCK!shelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08484258407276573441noreply@blogger.com
